The Ketogenic diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet. The diet forces the body to burn fats after it burns the glucose (sugar) from carbohydrates.
So how do you tell your body to start burning fat? Cut the carbs and sugar and let it go into ketosis. Ketosis is a normal natural state for the body when it is almost completely fueled by fat. This is normal during fasting, or when on a strict low-carb diet.When the body does NOT have enough glucose for energy, it burns stored fat instead. This is when the Ketogenic diet works it's magic.
Try not to think of it as a"diet" it's a lifestyle change, a perspective shift, a new paradigm. Weight loss is only one perk, it also controls insulin, improves mental clarity, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol.
